Could we ever again smell flowers driven to extinction by humans? The installation "Resurrecting the Sublime" invites us on a journey into the past: it brings to life the smell of a plant whose last traces disappeared over a century ago due to human activity.

This sensory revival of the long-extinct plant allows to experience the immense beauty of nature, but also challenges the visitors to reflect on our human actions – now and in the future.

In a scent cabin, sitting on granite stones, visitors of the BIOTOPIA Lab can experience the outflowing scent of a plant originally native in Africa. Images give an impression of the plant's former habitat.

The installation is the result of a unique collaboration between the artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg, the olfactory provocateur Sissel Tolaas and the biologist Christina Agapakis.
